KeyTracks
OK, so here is an quick fire essentail guide to the KeyTracks you SHOULD be listening too. These are selected and recommended by our youngest staff guy Benedict. He is young and knows more about good new stuff than us old guys - listen to what he says...
On The Horizon
Yes! Metro
This one man band from Canterbury fuses electronic funk with indie riffs to create some of the best music you will hear from an unsigned artist in a long time. Shaun Galvin plays drums, guitars and keys and takes lead vocals; and the lyrics he writes are an indication of a maturity above his age. 'Photographs' is the stand out track from his myspace page and the fact that he has over 1500 friends speaks volumes for his talent to write great pop songs.

And if you like that, try www.myspace.com/battleamsterdam, which is Galvin's side project.

Pretty. Odd.
Pretty. Awesome.
This is the best album of 2008 thus far. When they scrapped their original second album a few months ago, I don't think any of us knew what to expect.
If you are one of the people who won't listen to this because you didn't like their debut, 'A Fever You Can't Sweat Out', don't let that stop you. On the other hand, if you liked their first album, you will probably still like this. It retains the snappy, witty lyrics, but with a new maturity that is reminiscent of The Beatles or XTC. This was meant to be their SGT. Peppers, and whilst it is a way off, it is a great effort by these Vegas boys. 91%
The Courteeners
St. Jude
They said that they are what the world is waiting for. They said that they are the next link in the chain of Manchester rock bands. The Smiths, The Roses, Oasis, The Courteeners? Not yet.
This is a good album. There is nothing particularly wrong with it, but at the same time, nothing about it screams out greatness. Fan favourites Acrylic and Kimberley are only included on the 2CD special edition. This to me seems pointless as they are 10 times the rock songs as half the tracks on the album. New single, 'Not Nineteen Forever' and 'Cavorting' are the stand out tracks from this debut, and their is undeniably talent here and I expect more from their second outing. What the world is waiting for? We can wait a bit longer. 70%
